Rameshwaram is an island pilgrimage and coastal destination in Ramanathapuram district. The name “Rameshwaram Beach” commonly refers to several shore areas around the island rather than one single managed beach.
Agni Theertham lies on the eastern shore opposite Ramanathaswamy Temple and is primarily a sacred bathing place. Dhanushkodi, at the far end of the island, is valued for its open coast, ruins and the meeting area of the Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean. Ariyaman and other shores serve different recreational and local uses.
Conditions vary by shore. Respect religious activity at Agni Theertham, follow local warnings, and do not enter rough water or restricted sections. At Dhanushkodi, confirm transport and access conditions before travelling because weather can affect the exposed road and coast.
