Dance has different faces. When you dance, you move your body and feet in a way which follows a rhythm, usually in time to music. In India people are performing dance from the ancient time. India has different dance forms which are known as folk dances of India.
Every state of India has a specific dance movements and facial expressions along with a special costume. Dandiya is a folk dance of Rajasthan which is performed with the help of two sticks and group of people; on the other hand bihu dance represents Assam.
In some folk dances dancers express story by their gesture and body movements. Every individual can perform these dances however in some dances special training is required. For this purpose many dance schools and centers have been opened. Besides folk dance, classical dance has a great importance in Indian culture. Bharatnatyam, kathak, kathkali, and oddissi are the forms of classical dance. The spectacular make-up, costume and jewelry, dramatic expression and body language and the outstanding performance of the artists delight the spectators.
