Onece a part of the Chauhan kingdom Mount Abu served as a summer resort for the Rajput kings. Later it was leased by the British governemnt from the then Maharaja of Sirohi for use as head quarter of the resident to Rajputana (rajasthan). During the British rule, Mount Abu served as a sanatorium for the troops, who came here to escape the dusty and dry palins, particularly hot Rajasthan.
