The river Kanda flowing through the dense forests of Sahayadric mountain range is cascaded as the Kuntala falls. It is about 45 meters tall and is situated on the Adilabad district of Andhrapradesh.The waterfall got its name after Shakunthala, the beloved wife of King Dushyanth.It is believed that Shakunthala used to bath by the falls and fell in love with the King.The beauty of Kuntala falls is beyond words when the river Kanda filled with heavy rain water during monsoon. The air surrounding the waterfall is covered with mist and the water below is seen as gentle foam.The mild breeze smells us the scent of the dense herbs. Near to the waterfall is the Lord Someshwara Swami temple and we can reach there by passing through a spectacular hill slit.During the festival of Mahashivarathri, the temple is filled with worshippers from different parts of the country.
Also known as Sri Venkateshwara Park, beautifully cascaded down from a height of 270 feet.Talakona is famous for its scenery of green vegetation and is in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. It is 49 KM from Tirupathi, one of the most famous pilgrim centers in India. Due to the presence of a wide variety of flora and fauna this place was declared as Biosphere Reserve.The local people are believed that the water has healing properties. In Telugu “Tala”means head and “Kona” means hill, so Talakona is the head hill. Lord Siddeshwara Swamy temple is located very close to the waterfall.
One of the rising tourist attractions in Andhrapradesh is 70 feet tall and is on the Chandravanka River, a tributary of river Krishna. It is 11 KM near to Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. There is a viewpoint in the adjacent hillock. The lagoon formed by the waterfall is a crocodile breeding center. Ethipothala in Telugu means “lift and pour”. Trekking and camping facilities are available. There are direct bus services from Hyderbad,Warangal and Vijayawada to the waterfall.The Buddhist sites, Ranganatha and Dattatreya temples are some other local attractions.
